OOTD – How To Dress Up For Lunch At Pub

What I wore for Lunch to a Pub

So I have been missing in action with my outfit posts for a while. Mainly, because I couldn’t find the right occasion to dress up and show off my new outfit. Lollzzz. So anyways I found the right occasion to wear a new dress that was gifted to me by my mom-in-law. I found the perfect occasion to wear it for a Sunday brunch and beer session with friends.

I went ahead with the dress for mainly three reasons:-

  • I wanted to wear a dress. Was bored of pants and denims.
  • Finally had some sun so wasn’t worried about getting drenched in a dress.
  • Hubby was around so I didn’t have to worry about running around after my little guy.

What I Wore?

I wore a navy blue fitted dress from Marks and Spencer. I accessorised with a chunky neck piece from Aatman and a gold ring from Kazo. Since my dress was a plain solid colour, I wanted to wear all gold. I wore gold ballerinas from Steve Madden and a gold and multi tone hand bag from Esbeda.

Why I Chose this Style?

I have always loved to wear dresses, however since I am curvy and not tall I always need to be careful while choosing something that flatters my body and highlights my assets. I always pick up dresses either slightly below the knee or then mid-rise. These look great on my figure and I end up look slimmer than I am. Another thing I look at is the shape of the dress. I prefer something which is fitted from the bust till the waist and then flares slightly. This accentuates my waist line and takes the attention away from my hips.

What I loved about the Dress?

Firstly, it is a gift from my mom-in-law so that makes it extremely precious and special. My mom-in-law always puts a lot of thought in her gifts. She knows how much I love dresses and also knows exactly the kinds I will wear. It was amazing the confidence she had while buying it for me. When she gave it to me I was a bit sceptical if it’s going to suit my body, yet she told me that it is going to look lovely on you. And it did. :-)

What I would change?

The same dress in a black also would look gorgeous and would look great for an evening out. Maybe I could have worn heels, that would have given me the added height and lent grace and charm to the outfit as well.
